The INSITE suite is the only system that provides two different options for integrating floor plans with the database: ACADLink or Visual-FM™. Floor plans are not required in order to implement INSITE, so an organization can integrate electronic floor plans at their own pace. ACADLink provides a link to the INSITE database for facility, room,
organization, use, and area information. Visual-FM provides a seamless link and rich functionality between floor plans and the INSITE database
including query capability of many data tables in the INSITE database. The Visual-FM technology
also helps to significantly reduce labor costs for creating, maintaining, and linking floor plans by eliminating the need to create and maintain polylines.
ACADLink
The ACADLink overlay allows the use of AutoCAD as an interface to the INSITE database. Space information in the database can be directly linked to the floor plans, and database operations like insert, delete,
and update can be performed directly on an AutoCAD floor plan. Area information is dynamically calculated from the floor plan and linked directly to the database. Tools are provided for working with the floor plan and linking graphical information to database records.

This application provides all of the functionality necessary to dynamically
link AutoCAD drawings to the INSITE server database. Establishing this
link is very simple and intuitive. Functionality in ACADLink includes allowing the user to connect and disconnect from the INSITE database, add/edit/delete spaces, recalculate the area of any or all spaces, all within the familiar AutoCAD environment. In addition, clicking inside any space or on a linked entity brings up a window
into the database for the record belonging to that particular space or entity.
